Project 10 Pan - One More Try

Hi everybody!

Remember how I vowed never to do a Project 10 Pan again? Well I almost didn't and had to read up again, if you're interested, my first (and only) Project 10 Pan that ever took place ended 4 years ago, and it ended in despair: "Project 10 Pan - Never Again"... :-)

Oh well...

But it's gonna be a different Project 10 Pan this time, it will go something like this:

I will pick out 10 makeup items that I want to have used up by the end of the year. That's it, that's the goal. These 10 things shall be gone by 2016:

1. Nyx Champagne & Caviar Palette
2. Catrice Eyeshadow in Mystery Basrah
3. Benefit Erase Paste in Medium
4. Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle
5. MAC Lipstick in Intricate
6. Stila Lip Glaze
7. MAC Dazzleglass in Funtabulous
8. Benefit Moon Beam
9. MAC Cream Colour Base in Shell
10. Benefit F.Y.Eye Base

Seems easy, but trust me, it's not! When you enjoy putting on different makeup every day, according to your mood, your clothes, the season, it's really hard to stick to just a couple of things and use those consistently. I've been there, I've done that!
What made it so difficult last time is that I didn't allow myself to purchase ANYTHING before I had used up the 10 products and of course that didn't work out. That's just no gonna happen, ever! And even though I'm on a no buy for the duration of my maternity leave, I will still occasionally buy makeup.

So why these products?

The Nyx palette and the Catrice eyeshadow are already at a good point, I hit pan, they are everyday colors and I want to use them up because I have so many neutral everyday shades.

The Benefit products - Erase Paste, F.Y.Eye Primer and Moon Beam - are getting old, they are excellent products, but they need to be used up.

The Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle and the MAC Lipstick in Intricate: I have backups of both of these, they are almost done anyway, so they can be part of Project 10 Pan as well.

The Stila Lip Glaze (it doesn't say a shade on the tube) is old, is almost used up, it just needs to go!

The MAC Cream Colour Base in Shell: don't ask me how I hit pan, I really don't know, I feel like I never use it! :-) I always bring it on beach vacations with me and swipe it all over my face, as lipstick, as eyeshadow, as cheek highlight. It creases like hell but I never care when I am on vacation! :-) Basically, I just want to use it up, I have other highlighters I like better and it just want it gone.

The MAC Dazzleglass in Funtabulous: I have soooo many lipglosses and I have been on a lipgloss no buy for severeal years now. So I have basically stopped buying lipgloss, but I also need to use up some of the many I have!

So fingers crossed!

I will update via Instagram, so be sure to follow me there: @_blusherine

Peace, Love ;-)

"Mamma Mia": Behind the scenes with MAC Cosmetics

Knowing me, knowing you, a peek into the makeup world of a very successful musical, where it's all about MAC Cosmetics behind the scenes, that's us, right? And when the musical is "Mamma Mia", featuring all the feel-good-songs of ABBA, the Swedish cult band of the 70s and 80s, even more, right? Now who wants to come backstage?
I do, I do, I do, I do, I do!

MAC Cosmetics Austria invited a couple of bloggers to watch "Mamma Mia" last Thursday at Raimund Theater here in Vienna, and to talk to the makeup artists of the show beforehand. MAC provides the makeup for the cast, hence the access behind the scenes.

So off we went!
Like last year, when MAC took us to "Legally Blonde", we almost all wore black... :o) Mamma Mia! :-)

The other bloggers who were invited were:

 Am I missing anyone?

(okay, the makeup room sign could use a makeover as well...)

The makeup artists as well as the leading actress Ana Milva Gomes (second from left) answered all our questions and gave us an insight into the special requirements of stage makeup as well as the specifics for this show.

Ana even showed us what exactly she uses on stage:

Here's a peek at the many wigs of the show:

... and some of the makeup used:

Voulez-Vous know how the makeup is arranged on stage, behind the big curtain?

The lipsticks are labelled with the actresses' names so they can switch up their lip color quickly between scenes.

Before the actual show started the MAC PR ladies kindly showed us what's coming this spring:

I will definitely get my hands on the concealer duo, and if you know me, that would be NW25/NC30!

We also received press samples, so thank you for the makeup (and the music) ;-) MAC!

Mineralize Eyeshadow "Natural Vigor"
Nail Lacquer "Rich Kid Blues"
Lipstick "Light English Red"
Technakohl Liner "Metalhead"

So thanks again MAC Austria for a memorable evening at the theater, it goes down in the book!

Essie "Too Taboo" Nail Lacquer

Hi guys!

Here comes "Too Taboo", a fuchsia color that Essie just released with their Summer Neons Collection of the same name.

Now if I found the blue color from the launch - Chills & Thrills - (which I reviewed here) not neon, I find this one to be even less. It's almost the opposite of neon, it's not a bright fuchsia, rather a dusty one.

The formula however was great. Not BEING a neon you could expect that. ;-)

It applied better than your usual Essie polish, really opaque in one coat, I could have left it at that, but I used two, to correct the shape. I used a base coat underneath and also a top coat, since I wanted it to shine more (it dries to a semi-matte finish).

Too Taboo didn't chip quite as much as Chills & Thrills did, but it did start to chip after two days.

While I had a bit of a hard time taking a picture of Chills & Thrills that was true to color, I am happy to report that Too Taboo is pretty much how it appears in my picture!

Now next color I am going to put on is probably going to be the turquoise one!

Did you pick up Too Taboo? Are you liking it?

Essie "Chills & Thrills" Nail Lacquer

Hi everyone!

With all these summer collections coming out I'm gonna be broke soon! ;-)

Essie launched their Summer Neons Collection Too Taboo and every year when they come out with their fun flashy colors I'm always in for the ride. And so this year also, I got all six shades!!! Help!!!

The first color I decided to wear is Chills & Thrills. Now this isn't really a neon, it's a nice and bright color - pretty - but not neon. That being said, the consistency is not what you might expect from a neon; they are usually thin, runny, streaky and sheer. Not Chills & Thrills though! The consisency was rather thick (and not just thick for a neon, thick for a nail polish in general)! I had to work quickly in order not to goop up the color, it still turned out a bit lumpy, unfortunately.

To make it more neon and to make it pop more you could of course apply the color over a coat of white polish, but I can never be bothered!

Chills & Thrills was opaque in one coat, I used two, to even out blotchiness and to correct the shape. When it dries, it becomes slightly matte, I noticed because applying the top coat made a real difference in shininess! Oh, and I waited a little longer before applying my top coat, so that I wouldn't move around the color, since it applied so thickly.

Please note: Chills & Thrills is less of a royal blue (as it might appear in the picture) and more of a violet blue, the picture is not exactly true to color, the shade is a little more subdued and muted and not quite as cool toned!

*edit: after wearing it for a couple of days: it chipped really fast!

Now I'm really curious about the other colors and can't wait to try them!

March/April Empties & Review

Hi guys,

a bunch of stuff has found its way into my makeup household and a bunch has gone. Here are my empties for the months of March and April:

Kiehl's Ultimate Strenght Hand Salve
Absolutely loved this hand cream during the cold winter months, the tube is huge, 150ml/5fl.oz., and it lasted me quite a while. This was actually my second tube, I had already repurchased it and I will in the future. It's not the cheapest hand cream out there, this size costs 23 euros, but in my opinion it's worth it. The main ingredients are avocado oil and sesame oil, it's quite rich but it doesn't leave an oily residue. Come next winter, it will be on my bedside table again.
Repurchase? YES

Origins VitaZing SPF 15
This "energy boosting moisturizer with Mangosteen", as it calls itself, has also gotten much love from me. This is the first tinted moisturizer that I actually really liked, if you can call it a tinted moisturizer. It's a brown freckled white cream that leaves the prettiest slight tan on my warm toned MAC NC25/30 skin. I noticed though that you need to apply it to bare skin, if you apply it on top of another cream, it doesn't quite work its wonder. I bought it after watching MakeupbyTiffanyD raving about it. She has oily skin, I have dry skin and it seems to have worked for both of us. The product has been repackaged since I got it and I am not sure if they changed the formula, but I hope not!
Repurchase? YES

Origins A Perfect World Age-Defense Skin Guardian with White Tea
This serum has lasted me two winters, I used it when my skin was really dry and even the thickest moisturizer wouldn't do, which is not to say that you couldn't use it in the summer, you totally could, it's just that I mostly forget about it when my skin is doing all right. I used it underneath my moisturizer during daytime, during nighttime I switched to my MAC oil, which is also empty now and shown in the picture above.
Repurchase? YES, already have

Origins A Perfect World Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tea
Much as I liked the previous two Origins products, this is a product I won't repurchase. It stang my eyes if I accidentally got it too close or into my eyes and it wasn't as gentle as I'd like for my skin. Especially in the winter, when my skin gets extra sensitive, I like extra sensitive cleansers. I can totally recommend the Kiehl's Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser, for that matter.
Repurchase? NO

Anna Sui Dreams Perfume
Awwww, where should I begin... This has been my signature scent for a very long time, I've always gotten compliments when wearing it and it reminds me of so many special moments. I am not wearing it that often nowadays because I have so many perfumes and I tend to switch around, but it will always have a special place in my heart. For a while I thought it had been discontinued but it hasn't been. I've got two backup bottles and I will always repurchase. Since I am very bad at describing scents I will quote what it says on the Anna Sui webpage: "Exotic, floral richness arises from a mix of sumptuous Chinese Peony, Freesia and discreet white flowers. Fresh shinning Anise seeds enlighten the whole perfume. Sensuous Vanilla intense milky sandalwood and rare cedarwood add depthness and create a beautiful, seductive softness."
Repurchase? ALWAYS

 L'Oréal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara
Undecided about what to say about this mascara, at first I really disliked it because I felt that it clumped heavily. Then I started liking it. That's my general experience with mascaras, even though I don't like many of them in the beginning, I get used to the formula after a while and don't mind it anymore. I am never really on the hunt for the perfect mascara, like I know many of you are, I am more on the hunt for the perfect foundation. So bottom line: didn't like it at first, got used to it, used it up with no problem.
Repurchase? Probably not

Eucerin Modelliance Day Cream SPF15
I would repurchase this moisturizer for the scent only, I LOVE how this cream smells! I didn't love the packaging so much, it looks kind of cheap, but never mind. The cream is geared toward normal to dry skin and I can only say I really liked it!
Repurchase? YES

The Body Shop Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream
This has been THE discovery this winter. I received a brand new jar of this cream from my friend when she moved abroad and didn't want to take it with her. She had gotten it as a present herself and had never opened it. I am normally not too fond of Body Shop face products, but I took it, so she didn't have to throw it away. What can I say, I tried it and loved it. I have repurchased it since and I have two backups, out of fear that they will discontinue it. It's very rich and thick, yet creamy, not greasy. I used it day and night when my skin was at its driest. LOVED IT.
Repurchase? YES YES YES

MAC Care Blends Essential Oils Sweet Orange & Lavender
I guess you can see a pattern here. I'll do anything to put my very dry skin out of its misery during the winter months. I used this oil at night, underneath moisturizer, before going to bed. It left my skin really soft and smooth. I got this oil when it came out with a limited edition, but it has since become permanent so I will be able to get it again.
Repurchase? YES

Benefit Eyecon Eye Cream
Won't talk about this product too much because it has been discontinued. I really liked this eye cream, I used it during daytime underneath makeup and I felt like it left my eye area really bright. This was a repurchase at the time and I will miss it.
Repurchase? WOULD IF I COULD

Bebe Young Care Makeup Wipes
These are my go-to makeup wipes, I always have them at home and as long as they make them, I will always buy them! I have tried each and every makeup wipe that's on the market and none has measured up to these. They are made for sensitive and dry skin and they are much more saturated than your usual makeup wipe, which means that there's a little bit of residue on the skin after using them, but I wash my face with warm water and a cloth afterwards anyway, so I don't mind. I buy them in bulk when they are on discount and I always have them in stock.
Repurchase? ALWAYS!
L'Oréal Gentle Make-up Remover for Eyes & Lips
 Have already reviewed it here.
 Repurchase? YES
The Body Shop Deo Dry Deodorant - No Aluminium Salts
This deodorant has been discontinued, unfortunatly. I really liked it and I have bought multiple backups when I heard they were discontinuing it. They have since not replaced it with a no aluminium salt deodorant, which is too bad. I started reacting to aluminium a couple of years ago, I started getting really itchy and for the longest time I couldn't figure out why. Now I know and I am glad more and more brands are getting on the bandwagon. I am continually trying new ones and my favorite at the moment is the Louis Widmer one, which can be bought in pharmacies in Austria.
Repurchase? WOULD IF I COULD

bpretty Mascara Gel
  Have already reviewed it here.
 Repurchase? YES

Phewwwww, that was quite a lot of writing...
Cheers to you if you're still with me! ;-)
Hope you liked my small reviews!
