Neenar Nails of the Day

This is one of my favorite nailpolishes, and I don't even know the shade. :-(

I got it in Thailand a few months ago. I was staying on an island and my nails got really gross because of the sand and the saltwater. So I walked into a nail salon one evening and asked the ladies there if I could get my nails done. I picked a cream color for my fingernails and this lavender color for my toenails. Boy did I love it! This wasn't a color I would normally reach for, but - being on a small island and not in some huge mall - I had to choose from whatever they had.

I tried to find the brand on the internet but I didn't find anything. It would probably be all in Thai anyway. Unfortunately it doesn't say the shade on the bottle, but if anyone goes to Thailand anytime soon, watch out for this brand! Or at least this shade, since I don't know about the quality of the other shades.

And here are the painting directions :-)

One base coat, two coats of Neenar nailpolish and one top coat.

Base coat: Essence Multi-Vitamin Nail Hardener
Top coat: Sally Hansen Super Shine

Goldenaire and Viz-a-Violet Eyes

Products used:

Artdeco Eyeshadow Base
MAC Pigment Goldenaire
MAC Pigment Viz-a-Violet
MAC eyeshadow Mylar
Catrice Allround Mascara in C02 Deep Purple

The Catrice Mascara is from their new limited edition series Purple Passion. The color does look purple on the wand, but unfortunately (or maybe that's a good thing, it depends :-)) it doesn't look purple on the lashes. Anyhow, I like the mascara, it doesn't clump, is easy to apply to the lower lashes as well (which is always an issue for me) and - dare I say - is similar to my beloved Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express mascara, even in color :-)

The placement of shades:

August 2009 Favorite Products

My favorite products in August were items that I have had for while and that I have been using a lot in the past month. So let's get started!

Smashbox eyeshadow in the shade of Minx

I love this color so much! Even though the consistency is not that great and the color chunks and flakes a little when applied, the actual shade is so pretty that I am willing to forgive the texture. It's a taupe brown with a bronze shimmer. Doesn't that sound exciting? :-)
Benefit Erase Paste

This is the best undereye concealer I have tried so far. I also like the MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer but it gives me too little coverage and I only use it when I barely have any undereye circles. But on my average workday I look like a panda bear! So this concealer is the camouflage of my choice!
Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow/Liner in shade Flyin' Down To (Limited Edition)

Love these eyeshadow creams. They apply so smoothly and are so creamy and I love the finish. I have several of them and I use them alone as an eyeshadow as well as as an eyeshadow base. The shade Flyin' Down To is my favorite.

Stila Sun SPF 15 Bronzer in shade 1
This is my midsummer bronzer, for when it gets really hot and I am really tanned! For my pale winter NC25 skin this would be too dark, but for the past months it has been just perfect! I got this because Aubrey a.k.a. Fafinettex3 kept raving about it and I wanted to try it out. I am lighter than her but it still works great for me! So thank you Aubrey for this tip! :-)
The Body Shop Rubber Grip Eyelash Curler
I have been using it every day since I got it and I just simply love it.
L' Oréal Dermo-Expertise Eye Makeup Remover
Nothing compares to my Bebe Young Care 3 in 1 wipes for sensitive and dry skin when it comes to removing makeup - but this little darling here has definitely won my affections! It's great for sensitive eyes and it removes every last bit of waterproof eye makeup without leaving the skin greasy. Two thumbs up for this one!
I hope you liked my August favorites, I always love reading and watching what other people's favorites are!
Take care!

What's in my travel bag 2009

Since I just got back from my holidays I figured it would be nice to share what's in my travel bag! First off, I take very different things for very different types of vacation. Say I go backpacking, I would take a moisturizer that comes in a small plastic container so it won't break plus a lip balm to keep my lips moisturized, since I can't stand dry lips and would be picking them constantly. This is really all I need and all I take.

Now it's a different story if I go on a leisure holiday where I can bring 15 suitcases with me... (...just kidding) :-) But honestly, I would bring a whole arsenal of makeup - things that will get me through anything, social gatherings, formal evenings, weddings, just about anything.

And this is what it looks like, the makeup that gets me to the moon and back.

  1. MAC Plush Lash Mascara
  2. Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara
  3. MAC Lipglass Young Thing
  4. L'Oréal Color Riche Stars Secrets 708 Aishwarya Rai
  5. MAC Powder Blush Breath of Plum in Hello Kitty Sheer Mystery Powder Container
  6. The Body Shop Rubber Grip Eyelash Curler
  7. MAC Bronzing Powder Solar Riche
  8. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Plus
  9. MAC Beauty Powder Blush Fun and Games
  10. MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer in NW 20
  11. MAC Select Cover-Up Concealer in NC 30
  12. MAC Lustre Drops Pink Rebel
  13. Artdeco Eyeshadow Base
  14. MAC Brush Cleanser filled into generic plastic spray bottle
  15. Urban Decay Primer Potion
  16. Benefit Erase Paste
  17. Benefit Eyecon
  18. Benefit Powderflage
  19. MAC quad with colors Sable, All that glitters, Mylar and Shale
  20. MAC Mineralize Satinfinish in NC30
  21. MAC Mineralize Satinfinish in NW 25
  22. Make Up For Ever Liquid Lift Foundation
  23. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
  24. The Body Shop Moroccan Rose Eau de Toilette
  25. Eucerin Moisturizer Modelliance Tag SPF 15
If you are wondering why I take more that one item from the same category (like three foundations) with me, here is why: two mascaras, because I always use the Maybelline one first and then the MAC one. Two blushes because I use the purple one on its own for a cooler complexion and the peachy one usually with the bronzer for a more sunkissed look. The colors in the eyeshadow quad are the ones that work best for me - so far. I have yet to try different other eyeshadow combinations but these four are foolproof for me. I take two Satinfinish Foundations with me because I like to mix them since the NC30 one looks a little too yellow. The Make Up For Ever Foundation is for when I need a little more coverage.
Hope you are all well and have been on vacation this summer!
I would love to see what everyone else takes with them on their vacation!
Take care,
