This lipgloss looks great with a purple eye makeup (I used the Eccentricity Quad from the Colour Craft Collection) and with an orange/brown bronzer like the Solar Riche Bronzing Powder that was repromoted with the Style Warrior Collection!
I opted for an (office-friendly) brown look today:
- The Body Shop Grape Seed Dry Oil Mist
- The Body Shop Peppermint Cooling Foot Spray
- The Body Shop Of a Woman Lait de Parfum
- L' Occitane Comfort Cleansing Fluid
- Vichy Capital Soleil Autobronzant
- Jade FeuchtigkeitsMake-Up in 1 Hell Beige
- Essence Multi-Vitamin Nail Hardener
- Essence SOS Nail Savers Nail & Cuticle Balm
- OPI Tutti Frutti Tonga
- L' Oréal Glam Shine in 06 Sand Crystal
These are the products that I am intending to use up before buying anything new and this is going to be a real challenge, because I have to use up all 10 of them. When I tried adding eyeshadows I realized it would never work, because that would just take forever, same with blush!
So here is why I picked these products:
The Body Shop Grape Seed Dry Oil Mist: I love this product (like almost everything from the Body Shop), I just rarely use it. And since it's perfect for the summer because it leaves a shiny glow on your skin, I will use it up now.
The Body Shop Peppermint Cooling Foot Spray: I don't really know why I bought this because I never use it. I don't know, I will just randomly spray my feet whenever I feel like it, I guess...
The Body Shop Of a Woman Lait de Parfum: Ohhh.... this is one of my favorite parfums EVER!! There are so many memories attached to it and I just love love love it. Unfortunately it has been discontinued and unfortunately my remaining bit starts to lose its scent, so I better hurry up before it's totally scentless!
L' Occitane Comfort Cleansing Fluid: I don't really like this one, I just hope I use it up fast!
Vichy Capital Soleil Autobronzant: I have been so lazy with self-tanning this year, so I better use it up before it turns nasty, that has happened to me before, when I tried to squeeze the cream out of the product and it had totally changed color and smelled badly.
Jade FeuchtigkeitsMake-Up in 1 Hell Beige: I love this foundation, it is very moisturizing and leaves a nice finish, the coverage is also quite decent. I have almost used it up so this is going to be an easy one!
Essence Multi-Vitamin Nail Hardener: I like it, still glides on smoothly after some years and will definitely be easy to use up.
Essence SOS Nail Savers Nail & Cuticle Balm: Don't really like the consistency and the smell of it, will use it up and try another one!
OPI Tutti Frutti Tonga: This was my first OPI nail polish and I bought it in a nail salon in D.C. after the lady was done with my nails. I didn't know the brand back then, I had never heard of it but I liked the color so much that I bought this one and a backup right away. Now this one is getting a little thick and I think I should use it up.
L' Oréal Glam Shine in 06 Sand Crystal: I have so many lipglosses, so one of them definitely has to be used up! I picked this one because it's a nude color and I am likely to wear it more often than the brighter ones!
So keep your fingers crossed, I might post an entry when my first item is used up and a countdown from then on! Meanwhile I cannot go shopping! Ahhhhh..... :-)
So this morning I found out about Renis initiative to „kill your cosmetics“, which, I think, is a great idea and will help me clear out some stuff by using it up.
Reni is doing a German version of Lollipop26’s "project 10 pan" and I am quoting from Lollipop26’s blogpost entry dated April 18, 2009 (http://lollipop26writes.blogspot.com/2009/04/project-10-pan.html):
Project 10 Pan
What does this mean? It means that I am not able to purchase any cosmetics until I have used up/hit pan on at least 10 items in my current collection. It can be a foundation, lipstick, lipgloss, blusher, eyeshadow or eyeliner... anything like that... but I have to have completely used it up for it to count. Once I have used up 10 I can then purchase something.
Reni adapted it to make it a little less cruel ;-) and a little more practicable. So there are some exceptions, things that you may buy anyway, even if you haven’t used up your 10 stated items:
· Limited editions may be purchased (hey, who could expect us skipping those!!)
· When you hit the pan of eyeshadows, powders or creams, that counts as used up
· Beauty products in general count as well, so you may include a shower gel or a moisturizer in your list
· Some products may be almost used up or only half full, others must be newish with almost the full amount of product left
· You may repurchase essentials like your foundation and mascara since no one can expect us living without those ;-)
· Toothpaste and deodorants are excluded since they are very necessary!!
Everyone who wants to participate is kind of free to adapt the rules to ones needs and wants. I will make the following allowances for myself: I will not include brand new products who I have not used yet since then it will take me forever and I will include deodorants since I have a ridiculous amout of them!
Renis video can be found here:
You may send her your post or your video so she can see how the project evolves, contact details can be found on her youtube page.
I will post my list of items once I have my nominees! :-)
Brightening Eye Cream
Artdeco Eyeshadow Base
88 Ultra Shimmer Palette
Markwins Black Eyepencil on upper lashline
Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara in black
The colors used from the 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette:
I first applied the eyeshadow base all over my eyelid, then I applied the light grey color (x) to my inner lid, followed by the dark grey color (y) to my outer lid and into my crease. I then applied that nice warm red color (z) all over the two colors and slightly above the crease, blending everything together. The upper lashline I lined with a black eye pencil and smudged it out with a Q-tip. Last, I curled my lashes and applied mascara to my upper lashes. All done!
I will start off my blog with posting my skincare routine:
Kiehl's Creme d'Elegance Repairateur
I love this cream! I have very dry skin and this moisturizer is very rich, yet it doesn't leave a sticky or greasy film on my skin! I discovered Kiehl's while on vacation in D.C., my friend and me decided to go to their Georgetown store and we left with a bag full of stuff! We are hooked ever since then! :-)
Next comes MAC Mineralize Satinfinish SPF 15 Foundation
I am an NC 30, and I love this foundation because it gives me just the right amount of coverage while leaving a nice sheen on my skin. What I don't like about it, though, is that it can easily make you look like you have jaundice, if you use too much of it! ;-)
I have had my experience where it looked fine while putting it on in my bathroom and then, when double-checking it at my window, in natural light, it made me look all yellow and kind of sick! So what I like to do is either wear very little of it or mix it with:
MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion
The pinkish sheen neutralizes the yellow a little bit, sometimes I also like to mix MAC Strobe Cream with it, which is a little richer, for when my skin is drier than usual. When the MAC Style Warrior Collection came out last month, I got the Lustre Drops in Pink Rebel (LE), and those work well, too!
