MAC Make-Up Art Cosmetics Collection

The Make-Up Art Cosmetics Collection by MAC is divided into three parts, each inspired by an artist.

My personal favorite was the part featuring Richard Phillips (the painter). The colors are a little more muted and neutral compared to the colors in the other two collection parts and generally a little more wearable, for me at least, working in an office.

I got 5 things from this collection:
1 eyeshadow quad (Notoriety)
2 lipsticks (Front Lit and High Strung)
2 lipglasses (Young Thing and Personal Taste)

I also got 1 eyeshadow from the part featuring Maira Kalman (the illustrator). I got Purple Shower, which has been released before. It's a blue pink satin color and I think it's really pretty. I liked the other eyeshadows as well but I was trying to limit myself to what I really really liked.

I totally skipped the pigments and glitters, the colors were a little too flashy for me. I liked Heritage Rouge, the brown/plum pigment but it's very similar to Chocolate pigment so I didn't get it. I also liked Fuchsia glitter, it was sooo pretty, but I know I wouldn't be using it enough to justify the price so I passed on that one, too.

As for the technakohl liners: really pretty, really colorful, but again, a little too bright for me. I however applaude whoever is brave enough to draw the attention! Very much so!

Let me know what you liked and what you got!

Take care!

Pink and Mauve Eyes

A wedding is coming up (not mine! :-))

As always with weddings - one tries to look decent - since the wedding photographer will lurk behind every corner and shoot pictures which the wedding couple will of course post on the internet and everyone can see them and laugh at you!

So let's try to look nice!

(I do think that the focus of a wedding should be the wedding!!! Two people making a commitment!! But I still hate it when I see embarrassing pictures of myself online!)

So I have been trying to match my makeup to my dress, to see if I can find a combination that will work for sure. I see it as my personal morning challenge, just for the heck of it! I would grab a couple of eyeshadows that seem will work and run into my bedroom and hold them up against the dress. Then I would pick one, convinced that it will totally match my dress, and start to put it on my eyes!

Well, this is my third attempt and still it won't match the dress. Which is too bad, because if it doesn't match it exactly, there is no point since it will look really ugly and then I'd rather go for a neutral brown look.

But anyway, here is my look of the day, pink and mauve and totally inappropriate for the gorgeous dress!

Products used:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
MAC eyeshadow Part Peony (from Fresh Cut Palette) - all over lid
Catrice Soft Eye Shadow Velvet Matt in shade 050 Sweet Mauve - outer lid
MAC eyeshadow Trax - Crease and Outer V
Beige Highlight from 28 Neutral Palette
One coat of Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara in black

L' Oréal Color Riche "Aishwarya Rai"

My lips of the day are sheer brown.

L' Oréal Color Riche Stars Secrets 708 Aishwarya Rai

Even though my lips look pinkish, the color of the lipstick is really brown.

I'm not sure if this lipstick is available anymore, it was part of the L' Oréal "Stars Secrets" line which featured actresses and models and this specific lipstick was endorsed by the Indian actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai.

This lipstick actually comes closest to my natural lip color (of all the lipsticks I own). I have used a great bit of it and I have two backups in case I run out :-)

Artdeco Green and Purple Eyes

I have a love-hate-relationship with the colors blue and green.

Love: how they look great on other people
Hate: that I look like a lunatic when using them

Now once in a while I refuse to acknowledge that they just don't work for me because, hey, I want to wear that gorgeous green too! So I ignore the fact that only warm colors look good on me and just dip my brush into that green...

And as always: DISILLUSION!!
And as always: quick, cover up that green with something brown or purple...

So here is my makeup tale from this morning:
I applied my eyeshadow base, then, I thought, if I apply a warm brown base, that will warm the green up! So I applied my MAC Fluidline in Rich Ground all over my lid. I took my Artdeco green color "Delicious Kiwi" and applied it all over the brown base and on my lower lashline. Didn't look too bad. I then took the darker green "Late Spring Green" and applied it to the outer lid and on the outer lower lashline.

Started to move around uncomfortably in my bathroom... Had to do something about that green on my eyes... So there we go, I took "Pearly Italian Coffee", a nice brown taupe color and swirled it all over my outler lid and into the crease. And then, I took "Pearly Antique Purple" and coated it over most of the green...

So yes, this is my "green" and purple look! :-)

I will list the products used once more for more clarity:

Artdeco Eyeshadow Base
MAC Fluidline in Rich Ground
Artdeco Duochrome Eyeshadow "Delicious Kiwi"
Artdeco Duochrome Eyeshadow "Late Spring Green"
Artdeco Pearl Eyeshadow "Pearly Italian Coffee"
Artdeco Pearl Eyeshadow "Pearly Antique Purple"
Benefit eyebright (around tear duct)
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish "Redhead" (the lightest shade as highlight)

Hope you can see ANY green in the photo! :-))
Oh wait... there's still a little bit left on the lower lashline :-))

Take care

Lips of the Day: Bourjois Rose Voluptueux

and I applied two coats of mascara:
one coat of Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara in black
and another coat of MAC Plush Lash Mascara in black

That worked amazingly well!

On my eyebrows I used The Body Shop Brow and Lash Gel

July 2009 Favorite Products

My favorite cosmetic products in July were:

MAC Fresh Cut Palette
(Graphic Garden Collection, Limited Edition)
So many pretty colors in this palette and pink is definitely one of my favorite eyeshadow colors! I love all the colors in this one (except maybe the really dark one), which is rare!

Benefit Powderflage
Since everyone is raving about it I decided to give it a try and I must say, I really like it! It goes on smoothly and does not dry my skin out! A definite keeper!

The Body Shop Face and Body Brush
I REALLY love this brush! It's so soft and dense and I have been using it every day since I got it to set my foundation! This has got to be my absolute favorite product of the month!

The Body Shop Moroccan Rose Eau de Toilette
When I tried it at the store I didn't like it, but when I went home and cleaned out my pockets I smelled the test stripe again and I absolutely loved it! So I went back to the Body Shop the next day and got it (I had to ask the two salesladies to smell the stripe, since I couldn't remember which fragrance it was :-)) They smelled and smelled and finally agreed it had to be Moroccan Rose! :-))

Eucerin Modelliance Tag
This is a great moisturizer for the summer, it has SPF 15 in it and it smells SO good. But I guess that's just me, because no one else seems to think it smells that great! But I do, and I love it. I put it on when I am outdoors doing sports and not wearing makeup!
And last but not least: MAC Starflash Eyeshadows
(Love that Look Collection, Limited Edition)
Yes, I am going to include every single shade of them that I got because I just love them...

Hope you liked my favorites!

MAC Euristocrats II Collection

MAC Euristocrats II Collection

7 shades were on the display, 3 made it into my shopping bag!

They are:

Via Veneto (light violet with blue pearl)
Euro Beat (peach coral with gold pearl)
Internationalist (yellow pink with blue pearl)

These were the 3 that really stood out to me! I wish they were a little more pigmented, though! I can barely tell the difference between the shades when I put them on my lips even though they look so different in their packaging. So generally I would opt for a little less glitter and a little more color!

MAC Love That Look Collection

The 7 eyeshadows that screamed my name ;-)
MAC Love that Look Collection

And I DO love that look, this collection rocks!

MAC Starflash eyeshadows are incredible, they go on so smoothly and I love the finish, it's really creamy and frosty and so easy to blend! I got 7 shades out of the 12 that came out and I have yet to decide which one is my favorite one! I knew I was going to get Grand Entrance, but when I looked at them all in the store, there were different shades that caught my eye!

So I am super happy MAC came out with this great selection of colors.

As you can see, I got the more neutral shades, I skipped the flashier ones, since I am more of a neutral makeup person :-)
