MAC Betty Bright Lipstick was just released with the Archie's Girls Collection, just in time for spring!
It's a bright vibrant coral color, almost neon and probably not for everyone!
While I love the color, I have to admit, I don't love the texture. It's labeled a Satin, which means it has the color payoff of a matte, with a slight sheen. It goes on rather pasty and thick and you have to be careful not to over-apply because you'll end up with a thick layer of opaque lipstick on your lips, uneven and blotchy, not a pretty sight!
To make Betty Bright wearable for day-to-day use at the office I sheered it out a bit. Here in the picture I am wearing lip balm underneath to allow for a smoother application and to make it less opaque. You could make it even subtler by adding a bit of clear gloss on top, that would take the oomph out a bit as well! :-)
Colorwise, this lipstick is certainly more flattering on me in the winter when I have lighter skin. For reference, I am MAC NC25 in the winter and NC30 in the summer. When I will get darker, this lipstick will look even more neon, much like Saint Germain or Viva Glam Gaga, which I tend to only wear in the winter with paler skin.
As you can see in the picture, Betty Bright does settles into lines a bit. I should also mention that it emphasizes imperfections such as flakes. So be sure to exfoliate beforehand and keep you lips moisturized when you wear this lipstick.
